Heritage Tree Walk and Optional Lunch
Details
Let's go on a walk in SE Portland and see some heritage trees and then go have lunch. We will meet in front of Coava Coffee Roasters to start our walk. We actually have a rhododendron tree, a white pine, a beech, a sweetgum and a bigleaf linden as well as some other species on this walk. Heritage Trees are trees that have been added to an official registry which then affords them certain protections, and also most are viewable by the general public. The program was started in the 90's as a way of keeping our trees protected and documented. This was partly done because it was realized that ALL of the original forest had been cut down. The large and older trees you see around town were planted no earlier than about the 1850's.

After a walk to view a few of these trees, we will find a place to eat lunch, maybe Jam on Hawthorne, but we can figure that out when the time comes.
Okay, I hope to see you there!
