What we’re about
Please, do not join this group unless you are 100% confident that you will be an ACTIVE member by at least participating TWICE per year by attending events.
*It REALLY * takes a lot of time and energy for organizers and event hosts to create events. By participating in events, you acknowledge their hard work and your interest in the group and its members. It shows commitment and personal responsibility.
IF you sign up for an event but need to cancel, please, change your RSVP at least 24 hours prior to the start of the event to allow other members to attend. Failure to do so will result in a "No Show."
Inactive members and those who have an excess of changing RSVP or No Shows will be removed from the group. 3+ RSVP changes and 2 No Shows will result in removal.
Hi Almadenians!
This group is meant for people 55+ that want to be ACTIVE by participating in events that will also allow you to meet other members with similar interests.
We offer a variety of activities such as hikes, kayaking, board games, music in the park, live music, art fairs, theater... You are always welcome to post an event of your preference.
Please, post a close-up picture of yourself in your profile that shows only your face (no minors in the photo).
OUR HIKES ARE NOT INTENDED FOR HIKERS WHO LIKE TO HIKE AS A WAY OF EXERCISING.
WE HIKE TO ENJOY NATURE, THE COMPANY OF OTHER HIKERS AND TO, ALSO, EXERCISE. OUR NORMAL PACE IS 2-3 MILES/HOUR DEPENDING ON THE HIKE AND THE LEVEL OF THE MEMBERS ATTENDING.
OUR FINISH TIME IS AN APPROXIMATION BUT NOT A DEADLINE. MANY TIMES, WE LIKE TO GO OUT FOR LUNCH AFTER THE HIKE.
We are open to suggestions for events and we welcome members who want to participate in adding events to our calendar or becoming event hosts!
Out of respect for event hosts who spend time in planning and designing events and for members in the WAITLIST only sign up for events you read the entire information about and are pretty sure you will attend.
Members who do not participate in events and/or have a history of signing up and changing their RSVP last minute or are "no shows" will be dropped from the group.
Please, let me know if you are interested in becoming an event host.

RAIN WILL CANCEL THIS EVENT. PLEASE, CHECK THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THE MORNING OF THE EVENT (I will send an email notification if the event is cancelled but some members seem not to be able to receive emails).
Steep trails wind through grassland, chaparral and oak woodland habitats and offer panoramic views of Santa Clara Valley, Lexington Reservoir and Sierra Azul Preserve. The land still reveals some of its former uses. In 1888, Jesuits founded a school - called a novitiate - and a winery on the hill (observant visitors may notice remnants of abandoned vineyards on the upper slopes). Much of Jones Trail follows the historic alignment of Jones Road, the stage coach route that connected Los Gatos to the small towns of Lexington and Alma, which now lie at the bottom of the Lexington Reservoir.
PARKING: Carpooling available. Please, sign up as a passenger or a driver. Make sure to ask if anyone will stay for lunch.

My house is located between Snell Avenue and Blossom Hill Rd in San Jose (very close to Aqui's restaurant). Address will be sent the day before the event via meetup email. If you do not get the address, please text me at (408) 425-2827INTRODUCTION:
Dear Meetup Friends,
As many of you know, I retired early in my career as a high school Bio/Chemistry teacher (I had enough of public education BS).
At this new stage of my life, I find myself constantly looking for new ways to "discover" hidden talents I may have not developed over the years. Not an easy task.
I recently started learning knitting. I find it relaxing & personally rewarding. One of our members, Liz, introduced me to a type of drawing called Zen Tangle. I am truly enjoying it as well. Both, knitting & drawing, are different and bring about unique experiences. However, there are many other rewarding types of artistry I am willing and eager to learn.
I know, as a teacher, that group work is the best way to learn and the most fun. Wouldn't you agree?
There is an endless number of artistry we can learn from each other and enjoy.
Join us and discover the magic of arts & crafts!PURPOSE:
I know many of you are talented crafters and that many of you want to try "new things" as you progress into a new stage in your life.
I would like for this event to become a weekly activity where we come together to work on our current projects and eventually teach each other new arts & crafts techniques.
Ideally, I would love for some of us to take the role of teachers so we can learn new crafts from each other.ARTS & CRAFTS EXAMPLES:
