We will meet at the Hale Bridge parking lot at 830am then proceed into the park via the "backdoor" to the park, the Hale Bridge. It is one half mile across Highway 151 from Scooters Bar and Grill.

Bathrooms (pit style - no indoor plumbing) may not be open. Be prepared.

No canines.

Hike should be considered moderate w/hills about 3-4 miles in length as a loop (not out and back) hike.

NOTE: Please review the Discussions in Iowa Odysseys for appropriate gear for a snow hike. Please also review the About tab.

Btw, the interior park roads will probably be closed for the winter season.

No tennis shoes, no flip flops or sandals allowed for your safety. Insulated winter boots ("shin high" ideal) required for your safety. (Theisens is, btw, a good source for inexpensive insulated boots) .

Hiking/ski poles highly recommended. Poles can be rented from organizer for $5 for the event.

Bonuses should include relative solitude, wildlife sightings esp eagles!

Binoculars/cameras w/good telephoto lens highly recommended.

It is recommended that you have a second dry set of clothes (left in car) that you could change into at a convenience store two miles away from Hale Bridge.

Weather will dictate the event. If there is a blizzard, temps below 0 degrees F, etc, event will be cancelled in interest of safety.

Weather predicted to be in 20s to 30s F, partly cloudy with light winds out of the west.
