Ramsbottom Rambling (13 Miles, Moderate)
Details
Ramsbottom -- a much nicer place than the name suggests -- is the setting for this point-of-interest-packed ramble around the surrounding hills and parklands.
This pleasant South Lancashire town has a lot to offer and we'll be visiting as many of the local landmarks as the day allows, including the River Irwell, The Pilgrims' Cross, Fletcher Bank Quarry, Edenfield Waterfall, Tentering Tower, the Stubbins Estate, Buckden Woods, and of course Peel Tower.
Plus, if the soldiers aren't playing with their guns that day, we'll swing by the Holcombe Moor Training Camp for a look at the old Krypton Factor assault course.
Starting point...
We'll meet at the Ramsbottom Urn sculpture in the centre of town:

Parking...
There's a number of parking options in town, including free spaces on some side streets - Peel Brow for example:

After the hike...
We'll pop to the pub (maybe the Eagle & Child Inn) for a post-hike drink.
Dogs...
Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walk and in the pub afterwards.
What to bring...
Please bring a packed lunch, water and appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather.
