SPIRIT BODY: resilience in nature
Details
The Spirit Body sessions are weekly outdoor group gatherings on saturday morning, focussed on building (back) physical, emotional and mental resilience by actively engaging with nature's elements in a forest-like environment.
The 2-3h sessions focus on gradually increasing the physical resilience, but also include emotional and mental aspects to restore general holistic balance in body, mind and spirit. Having no competitive stake, we do explore and play creatively around our personal comfort zones, sliding in and out, at times challenging our personal beliefs, convictions and limitations.
The sessions have therapeutic properties, but presented in a light, fun and engaging way. We connect interpersonally, supporting, motivating and inspiring each other through dynamic solo, duo or group play and exercises.
We hike in the forest, finding nature's objects to creatively 'play' with: we could hang for a while on a tree's branch, we could run together uphill, balance blindly over fallen trees, do some weight-lifting with logs or a big stone... We keep the fun and 'togetherness' high and take time to rediscover the intimate beauty of nature: making hot tea from a freshly-picked medicinal plant, do a silent or nature touch meditation, contemplate on the importance of valuable, intimate connection with ourselves, the environment and the others.
PRACTICAL
We have our weekly mini-adventure/work-outs on saturday morning 10h-13h sharp. Meeting and end-point is always Parking Forest Playground Everzwijnbad, Weertsedreef 8-10, Oud-Heverlee (please read location description well, Google Maps can be a bit tricky). Every week the itinerary and the program will differ depending on weather, mood, groups composition and intentions of the day.
The focus remains on physical growth, in a fun and engaging way, each at their own pace. Exercises can be intensified or reduced on an individual level, depending on personal limitations or goals.
We only cancel the event in extreme weather conditions: heavy rain, hailing storm/lightning,... Light rain, snow or ice won't stop us, it could actually be more fun.
Since you actually might get a bit dirty and sweaty at some point, please prepare for outdoor nature workout: sporty shoes with ribs, sporty clothes that might get a bit dirty, a small towel (feet might get dirty or wet), maybe a pair of extra socks or tight sports gloves. Bring some water, a small snack and a mug to drink the herbal tea.
That's it! Hope to welcome you all in good vibes and spirit!
