I will meet the 9.28 am train from London Liverpool Street, which arrives in Great Chesterford at 10.35am. Buy a return to Great Chesterford, as Audley End is the stop before, on the same line.
There are no toilets at Great Chesterford station.
The Walk
This is a gently undulating 10-mile walk across open Essex farmland and river valleys from the quaint village of Great Chesterford, through the historic market town of Saffron Walden and ending up at one of Britain's finest Jacobean stately homes, Audley End.
Lunch
Please bring a packed lunch and we will find a nice spot to sit. We might also stop for a drink in Saffron Walden, towards the end of the walk.
