Join us December 11 at 7PM at the Woodbridge Main Library for an exciting presentation as lecturer Gail Thompson shares her eight-day trip to Japan while offering insights into the country's rich history and culture. Including a look at Japanese cuisine, work ethics, the art of lacquerware, origami and the 1000 Cranes, as well as the celebration of Children's Day, Girl’s Day, and the traditional Tea Ceremony.
This presentation will include a discussion of Tokyo Province, where Gail will highlight the bullet train, cherry blossoms, environmental care, and the yen. The journey continues through Kyoto Province, featuring the breathtaking Golden Pavilion, the sacred peak of Mt. Fuji, the intricate training of Geishas, and the historical significance of Nijo-jo Castle during the Samurai era. In Nara Province, attendees will learn about the magnificent Great Buddha Hall and gain insights into the Buddhist and Shinto traditions that have shaped Japan's spiritual heritage.
Gail will also display various Japanese artifacts, allowing the audience to view them up close following the presentation. This is a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the captivating history and traditions of Japan.
