I am sending out meeting notifications and analysis meetings, using my private e-mail list.

As you can tell, I am NOT using the MEETUP website as much, because it's a pain in the rear, and the meetup site sends out way TOO many e-mails, which I have very little control over. And I get a lot of complaints about it.

Plus, it's nice to know who is actually who. So it's a small hurdle to give me your e-mail address, and that seems to stop all the riff-raff, and Sales people, who usually try to sell us stuff, incessantly.
