What we’re about
Metattend is a phenomenology that brings individuals, families, and communities to ever greater states of wholeness. Phenomenology is a science of direct experience which has a basis in meditation or introspection. It relies on the method of bracketing or suspension of judgment, this is known as dropping the natural attitude. The onlooker is the one who develops a natural attitude on the basis of an economy of attention. By dropping this natural attitude we can come back to the phenomenon or direct experience of consciousness that is factual. This leads to what is known as ataraxia or a state of tranquility. It is this tranquility and clarity of phenomena that leads to what is wholesome. David Bohm, his pupil Henri Bortoft, and Goethe are scientists who recognized the importance of a science of wholeness. Bortoft with his connections to systems theory focused his writings on phenomenology. These practices are however available to anyone who values what is wholesome.
Compassion, and loving-kindness are practices that are conducive to wholeness that are now well recognized by the scientific community.
We apply theory derived from direct experience to engage in practices that bring about greater wholeness within ourselves, our families, our communities, and the world as a whole. In this way we can realize the oneness of all being. The primary focus of this group is at the level of family. Family is the most basic social unit and greater wholeness must be based on wholesome homes. Proceeds go to benefit widows, community, and disabled children.
