What we’re about
We are a "Drinking Club with a Running Problem."
The Hash House Harriers (HHH or H3) is an international group of non-competitive running social clubs started in 1938 in Malaysia by a group of British expats. Today there are more than 2000 HHH clubs in 185 countries.
The H3 Mexico City Club has been running and drinking together since 1980. There was a brief slow down during COVID, but we are now up and running hashes every other Saturday.
Each run is called a "Hash" where a "Hare" marks a trail in advance and the rest of the Hashers (hounds) in the club try to follow the trail. Trails are generally between 3-7 km and are often separated into walking trails and running trails so that the Hashers who want a more leisurely walk and those who want to jog or run can still end at the same time. Some times there are "Beer Stops" along the trail for "hydration". The trail ends with a "Circle" where all Hashers are brought together citing different events on the trail and asked to do a "down down" where they chug a beer to bawdy drinking songs sung by their fellow hashers. Once you have joined a few Hashes and potentially hared a trail yourself, you will be given a distinctly unique, funny, and often a bit dirty "Hash Name" to be known by within the club.
It's a great way to get out and enjoy a bit of the outdoors in or nearby the city with a great group of people - get a little exercise in, and then hit a pub or a house party for some libations and snacks together. Make new friends and have fun together.
As one Hasher put it, "Hashing is a state of mind - a friendship of kindred spirits joined together for the sole purpose of reliving their childhood or fraternity days, releasing the tensions of everyday life, and generally, acting a fool amongst others who will not judge you or measure you by anything more than your sense of humor."
Sign up for one of our events and try it for yourself! We look forward to meeting you.
