On Tuesday, November 19, Dr. Willie Yee will present a program entitled “What Have Space Telescopes Told Us About the Universe”. The talk is being sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association and will be given at 8 PM at SUNY New Paltz.
The presentation will discuss the findings of the Hubble and Webb space telescopes, and what they have taught us about the history of the universe, and how they are changing our theories about its evolution.
Dr. Yee is an amateur astronomer and past president and member of the Board of Directors of the MHAA. He presently is a Solar System Ambassador, a program supported by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. He is a retired psychiatrist and a magician trained at the world-renowned McBride Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas.
The talk will be delivered in-person at the Coykendall auditorium and will also be delivered via Zoom. The live event will immediately follow the regularly scheduled business meeting of the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association which starts at 7:30. A link to the Zoom event will be sent to participants registered. To register go to midhudsonastro.org and select "ATTEND" at the association's Meetup site. The zoom link will be sent to those registered by the day of the event. To attend only the presentation join in before 8 PM and you will be admitted to the final minutes of the association meeting. The presentation will begin at 8. To attend both events join in or attend live by 7:30. The talk will be recorded so that it can be viewed later by anyone who cannot attend.
