The Art of Photography Miami (Field Workshops)

Join Arthur Jacoby on a unique photographic adventure that explores how he has developed and actualized his evolving photographic vision. Art is an artist/photographer. He uses the camera and the digital darkroom the way a painter uses paints, brushes and a canvas or a sculptor uses hammers, chisels, stone, metal and clay to tell and share stories and vision.

Many people mistakenly believe that a camera accurately captures reality. They and most photographers try to do this by using the camera to freeze a moment in time. However, because the world never stands still and the camera doesn't see and experience what humans do, this is impossible. Reality is a transient experience. The camera cannot fully capture what the eye sees and the brain perceives.

In Art’s words, “A camera does not experience or feel anything. It cannot capture my vision and experiences. When I press the shutter button of my camera, I am responding to something I see and feel. It’s instinctual.”

You are cordially invited to this “out-of-the-ordinary NIGHT photowalk event” to challenge your Street Photography skills, as well as sharpen your urban scenery talents. You’ll be able to practice Street / Documentary Photography under various types of lighting conditions, while anticipating and executing under exciting decisive moments opportunities PLUS have the opportunity to enjoy a great night of music and camaraderie.

Cultural Fridays at Calle Ocho are special events that happen on the Friday nights with displays of musicians, whimsical shops, interesting characters, Art Galleries, and the traditional Domino / Chess players at the Maximo Gomez Domino Park: You just need to come ready to "create" quality magic moments.

This event is guided by Rafael, an enthusiastic photographer and experienced photography instructor who has taught photography in South Florida for many years. He has also led many field photography outings for over 15 years and will be available along this photowalk for specific tips, technical consultation, and even offer Little Havana’s cultural and historic information.

We’ll meet and start our photowalk at the Domino’s Park entrance (1444 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135) at 6:30 PM - Please note that there is plenty of (pay with app) street parking along 8th Street and side Avenues… This workshop is a “One-of-a-Kind” technically supported photoshoot with attention to practical learning for which there is a $10 fee.

Join us for this a presentation of photographic imagery by Chuck LaChance. Chuck is a self-trained artist/photographer and has been recognized nationally and internationally.

Share this evening with him on an exploration of imagination and creativity. Where does wonderful work come from? Is it from expensive equipment, a stroke of genius or happenstance? That's unlikely. Indeed, as Chuck would put it "the best work manifests itself in the eye, mind and heart of the artist".

Chuck's program will open your eyes to seeing your environment in new and different ways, with the express purpose of creating memorable images.

This is a continuation in our series of special presentations and high-level educational programming. Our goal is to further enhance your interest and knowledge on your journey as a fine photographer.
