What we’re about
Michiana Astronomical Society is a not-for profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1974 to promote the observation and understanding of the cosmos. We have regular meetings on the third Thursday of each month in the Alligator Room at the St Joseph County Public Library, Centre Township Branch at 1150 Kern Rd, South Bend, IN 46614. Most of the meetings have a presentation, followed by a discussion of recent and upcoming events in astronomy and space exploration. We host a large annual star party in May that attracts attendees from a three-state area. We also participate in many public outreach events, including Science Alive! and Kemil Beach public observing. If you need help using your telescope, want to see through some large scopes, or want to learn more about astronomy, join us!
