Wolverhampton Almost Traffic Free Bike Ride

Details

Our ATF (Almost Traffic Free) bike rides have created lots of excitement since we introduced them after covid restrictions ended. All involve joining together canal side tow paths, old railway line trails, country parks, nature trails and other local routes into a joined up 25-35 mile easy circular route for all to enjoy. General road bikes, hybrids and e-bikes are all welcome but not racers with very narrow tires as there may be soft or uneven surfaces on parts of our routes.

This is a brilliant ride 26 miles in all, traveling through one of the most built up areas in the country but feeling most of the time that you are out in the countryside. Over 95% completely traffic free which is unreal. Amazing.

Our ATF rides have been executed with great success in Nottingham (x2), Derby(x2), Birmingham, (x2), Wolverhampton (this one), Stoke on Trent (x2), Manchester, Stafford and Liverpool and shortly Leicester in addition to the circular rides we regularly do in the Peak District.

You don't need to be super fit or a regular rider as there are no big hills and we go at a steady pace throughout. We keep road sections to an absolute minimum. Pretty much any bike will do including e-bikes if that's your thing but hybrids are ideal. Non-member friends or family members are welcome too, but no under 18's.

Helmets are obligatory on all group bike rides for insurance reasons as well as safety.

There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for refreshments on our route but you should bring fluids, snacks and optionally lunch packup if you feel the need.

Meet / parking spot is at Tame Bridge Parkway Station which is close to M6/J8 but actually accessed via M6/J9

Here's a relive of the ride we did in Stoke on Trent so you can see what an ATF ride looks like!
