Welcome to the

MID NORTH COAST HIKING MEETUP

WHO ARE WE? A group of like minded people that just want to get out there and explore some of the best day walks around the Mid North Coast of NSW, plus some multi day hikes in Australia and overseas. All the short day walks are free and organised by volunteers. Full day and multi day hikes incur charges and each of these will be linked to the website of the organiser for more detailed information.

WHAT DO WE OFFER? Hiking. Hikes will be graded based on difficulty. Want more info on how the hikes are graded? See below.

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO? For the lasting benefits of regular exercise, fun adventures in the great outdoors, and fellowship with like-minded people.

WHERE DO WE HIKE? All around the Mid North Coast, and occasionally in other places around the world. Local hikes may take place on all paved surfaces, a mix of paved and dirt/rocky trails, or all dirt/rock trails, or in places where there is no trail at all while bush bashing

HOW DO I JOIN? Just click on the “Join US!” button to get started. When you join, please READ and ANSWER all questions carefully. For safety reasons we also ask that you post an actual picture of yourself with a clear facial view on your profile. Please read our hike rating information and the disclaimer below for other important information and to understand our level of difficulty ratings:

HOW ARE HIKES RATED?
We rate our hikes from 1 to 5 to give hikers a guide to the level of difficulty.
Our PADS (Pace, Ascent, Distance, Surface) rating is described below:
Pace:
1. slow and easy pace – 3 km/hr or slightly faster on flats
2. regular hiking at a comfortable pace with regular breaks – 4 km/hr on flats.
3. fast walking; not many breaks – 5 to 6 km/hr on flats
4. serious speedsters; expect to jog some of the time – 7 to 9 km/hr or on flats
5. serious trail runners; expect to run most of the time – 9+ km/hr on flats
Most of our walks are at a slow and easy or comfortable pace

1.6 - 150m
2.0 – 250m

4 trail is undefined; bushwhacking; loose or slippery surface; footing sometimes obscured by undergrowth
5 the trail is undefined; you will need to use your hands; bordering on rock climbing
All our hikes are mostly on well defined trails
To determine the overall rating, the host will sum the score from each category, and then divide it by 4. For example, if the Host assigns each rating above as follows: P – 2; A – 2.6; D – 3; S – 2, the overall rating will be (2+2.6+3+2)/4=2.4
Our hikes are then described by levels of difficulty according to their difficulty levels as:
1.0 to 2.3 Easy to Moderate (depending on your fitness)
2.3 to 3.0 Moderate to Hard (depending on your fitness)
3.0 to 3.6 Hard (N/A to our hikes)
3.6 to 4.3 Very Hard (N/A to our hikes)
