Winter Photography Photo Hike
Details
Winter is a great time to be out taking photos. The sun is at a low angle all day long, and the air contains much less moisture due to the colder temperature making for fantastic visibility. Join us as we spend a couple of hours photographing the area around the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge in Bloomington. This program is lead by volunteer naturalist, Don, who will be providing tips along the way helping you to capture some great images.
Date and Time: Saturday, January 11th from 10:00am -12:00pm
Location: Old Cedar Avenue - 9551 Old Cedar Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55425
Registration Information: No registration required.
Activity Level: Easy-active, we will walk slowly and make frequent stops.
Meet Us: Meet us at the Old Cedar Avenue pavilion.
What to Bring: Warm clothes, boots, hat and gloves. Dressing layers works best to help manage the temperature.Hand warmers. Any camera (even smartphones). For those with cameras with interchangeable lenses, lenses with focal lengths between 24mm and 105mm is ideal. Traction devices for your boots such as YakTrax or similar. Optionally a polarizing filter (for those of you using phones, a pair of polarized sunglasses works really well).
Accessibility: A portable restroom is available at the Old Cedar Avenue pavilion. This walk takes place on mostly flat ground on paved trails, wooden boardwalks, and natural surface paths. Depending on seasonal trail conditions, natural surface paths may not be suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Very few benches or rest areas exist along the route, though the parking lot is a short distance away and provides a shaded seating area.
