Cooksville was the real heart of old Toronto Township. But it started out as Harrisville after the original settler, and was a major transit hub and stagecoach line through the heart of Upper Canada. The Dundas highway linked the capital of York with the hinterland, and the western ends of the empire to the west and southwest towards today's Windsor.
Cooksville was also the home of a European Grand Duchess, I guess you will just have to take the tour to find out that answer and that fascinating story. Here's a clue she also lived on Gerrard Street in Toronto and I talk about it in my Riverdale walk. Or if you think you know drop me a line. Interesting indeed?
This is a an area that has plenty of history, but not all that well known. Let's explore Mississauga together. Plenty to learn here.
This walking tour is for all walking levels and fitness skills. Please dress for the season and bring water. And remember to bring your love of history.
This tour begins at the southeast corner of Dundas Street East and Hurontario in Mississauga. The tour returns to the start location after the walk!
The ticket price is $15.00 per person!
