December is the time to celebrate Christmas and paddlers can do it in a unique way, caroling on the water. So, let's paddle and sing. Yes, let's go Christmas caroling on the water. Some of you may be thinking "I can't sing". Well, neither can I, but it's definitely a lot of fun to paddle at night with a crowd of decorated kayaks, even if you just pretend that you're singing.
The plans are to meet at the LaPointe-Krebs House/Old Spanish Fort boat launch at 5:00, on Sunday night, 12/17. The address for the launch is 4611 Hickory Steet, Pascagoula, Ms. We will start caroling at 5:30 at the pier in front of the LaPointe-Krebs House. The route will be from the LaPointe-Krebs House heading east along the Lake Ave waterfront, then north along the River Road waterfront. We will end the caroling just past Jefferson Street, at about 8:30. The total trip will be less than 3 miles.
The LaPointe-Kreb's House and Museum is hosting an event in conjunction with our caroling. The house and museum will be open to the public starting at 4:00 on that Sunday afternoon, 12/17. They will be serving beignets, hot chocolate and coffee from 4:00-7:00. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to ensure that we are in the Christmas spirit. Check the LaPointe-Krebs Facebook page for all the family fun events. The kayakers will start singing at 5:30, then depart on our caroling route.
We encourage you to decorate your kayak or board with lights and Christmas decorations. Also, feel free to dress for the holidays.
For safety, please wear your PFD and bring a light and whistle.
We look forward to seeing you, so come out and join the fun.
