Overview:
Join us for a scenic 5.5-mile hike starting from the charming Grove Ferry Inn, nestled on the banks of the River Stour. This walk takes us through some of the area’s most beautiful landscapes, including the peaceful village of West Stourmouth, and along a stretch of the historic Saxon Shore Way.
Route Details:
The route offers a wonderful mix of countryside and riverside views, with the Stour River meandering through the marshes, it’s the perfect start to 2025. Along the way, we’ll pass through diverse habitats, from wide open fields to rich wetlands, where the winter wildlife is abundant—perfect for nature lovers.
The route follows part of the Saxon Shore Way, a trail that traces ancient coastal routes once used by the Romans. The landscape here is shaped by the shifting tides of the River Stour, which has carved out rich clay and alluvial deposits, creating distinctive features such as the grazing marshes and mudflats that are home to an array of bird species. This walk isn’t just about the exercise, it’s about connecting with nature and each other, and being part of a community.
We invite you to join our expanding community of women who are dedicated to health, wellness, and enjoying the great outdoors together. You don’t have to be an avid walker for this route, it is flat and we walk at a sensible pace.
Please bring a small picnic lunch or snack for our rest stop.

We run our Women’s Wellness Walks for every stage of life, offering a safe, supportive space to connect with nature and with each other. Whether you’re navigating the highs and lows of life or seeking community during the stages of menopause, these walks are for you. We provide full support for all stages of menopause, creating an inclusive and understanding environment.
This walk isn’t just about enjoying beautiful scenery; it’s about fostering friendships, empowering one another, and finding strength in community. Research shows that spending time outdoors improves mood, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being. What better way to reap these benefits than by joining a group of like-minded women in an uplifting and supportive setting?
Walk Leader: For those who don’t know my story, I experienced a medical menopause in my 20s, which came with a long list of symptoms. This journey led me to train in menopause and nutrition, and I’ve since been invited to participate in both medical and retail panels to discuss the physical and mental impacts of menopause. Our walks provide a safe space to share openly if you wish, or simply to enjoy being in nature together.
