Let's hike the Duchess Mine Trail in Columbia near Jamestown. It's only 3.5 miles loop but reviews say it is on the more challenging side, 1062 ft of gain, a lot of steep hills and stickers so wear pants and good hiking boots!
No dogs. I move at a slower pace 1.5mph-2mph. I try to keep the slowest person where I can see them.
I also have walkie talkies we can bring in case some of you fast hikers go on ahead of everyone.

Directions from Modesto to Dutchess Mine Trail. From Claus road, turn right and head east on highway 108 for 33 miles. At the traffic circle take the 2nd exit to stay on hwy 108 E/ Ca 49 N drive 2.7 miles. Use any lane to turn slightly left onto Jamestown road drive 3.9 miles. Slight left onto Shaws flat road drive 1.8 miles. Turn Left onto Broadway/Parrotts Ferry Road , continue 5.6 miles down Parrotts Ferry Road then turn Left. Drive 150 feet and park. I was told for dutchess mine trail to start on the left... it's a steep uphill for almost 1 mile. When we reach the flat top to go right. Then when we see like an old army bomb shelter looking thingy, to turn right. Then later when there's a fork in the trail to go left even tho it feels wrong like it's moving away, it will circle and come back to the start.

Recommended you bring: hiking poles, a bottle of water, first aid in case of emergency, your own maps in case you somehow get separated from us and a snack. I also recommend staying with the group or at least one partner who walks the same pace as you do.
