What we’re about
If you're a singer/songwriter/musician/comedian/poet, or someone who enjoys singing/songwriting/music/comedy/poetry, we want you to be part of co-creating this supportive community. If you want to encourage others (or be encouraged!) to step out, take a risk, and share something you're working on, join us the second Friday each month for an outdoor open mic night, from 7-8:30pm.
If you're planning on signing up to share, you can sign up here: wvneighborhoodchurch.org/openmic, or come at 6:30 on the day-of to sign up for a slot!
(And we will meet, rain or shine, because though we plan to be outdoors in good weather, we also have an indoor option at the same location too!)

(INDOOR EDITION): The second Friday night of every month we bring together a supportive community of those who love music, the spoken word, clean(!) comedy, and creative arts.
This is a time when imperfect people can come together and encourage one another to step out and share something new, to be vulnerable enough to be ourselves, to take a risk, and discover we are appreciated just as we are. Whether you have something you want to share or if you want to cheer on others who do, we want you here!
We're moving indoors for the fall/winter, and we'll be back out on the patio when the weather and sunlight allows.
Read on for what to expect if you’re coming to support a performer, and below that, what to expect if you’re performing. The headline is: let's have fun meeting new people and supporting the local creative arts scene. Please keep in mind that this is designed to be a safe space for people, whatever background we are from or whatever beliefs we have. If you have questions about content, let us know. We're happy to help.
I'm coming to cheer on the performers! What do I need to know?
- The "coverage charge" is to bring some canned goods for West Valley Community Services. Check out what they need the most
I'm coming to perform! What do I need to know?
- Slots are 5-10 minutes, depending on how many performers we have. Time slot includes your set-up time
- Sign up with this form ahead of time to get a slot, or come at 6:45pm the night-of!
- Bring your instrument (unless you’re playing keys—we’ll provide a house keyboard: a Roland Juno-DS 88)
- If you're a vocalist that wants live accompaniment, head over wvneighborhoodchurch.org/openmic and let us know what song you want to do. The more notice you give us, the better chances are we can accompany you live. Tracks are okay too, but live is fun, right?
- We’ll have two mics, a 1/4 inch connection for your instrument, and two music stands
- Keep it family-friendly! If PG-10 were a rating, that’s what we’d be going for

I'm coming to cheer on the performers! What do I need to know?
- Bring a lawn/folding chair (we’ll have a few on hand but you’ll be more comfortable in your own)
- Bring whatever you need to stay warm—we’ll be outside on the patio—unless it’s less than 60 degrees. Then we’ll be inside at the same location! We’ll also move indoors if it rains. The show must go on!
- There’s no cover charge, but if you can bring some canned goods, we’d love that! We’re running a non-perishable food drive for West Valley Community Services. Check out what they need the most
- Feel free to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages; we'll have a few to share!
