Northwest Branch hike: Kemp Mill Road to Burnt Mills Falls and back
Details
A moderate 7-mile hike along the Northwest Branch Trail from Kemp Mill Road to Burnt Mills Falls and back. We will go downstream on the Rachel Carson Trail and return along the Northwest Branch Trail (on the other side of the stream). This is a very pleasant stream valley, and Teddy Roosevelt called Burnt Mills Falls the prettiest place in the DC area after Great Falls.
Bring lunch and at least 1 quart of water. Meet at Kemp Mill Road and Glenallen Ave., Silver Spring, MD at 9:30 am and be ready to go.
Warning: There are no bathrooms at the trailhead, but public bathrooms are available at Brookside Gardens and Brookside Nature Center a half-mile along Glenallen Ave. from the trailhead. Bathrooms will be available in a shopping center near the halfway point.
A 'yes/ attending' RSVP is your digital signature that you've read, understood, & agreed to the Liability Wavier hyperlinked here.
