Name: Walk/hike tour of former Medfield State Hospital and Charles River loop

Come and enjoy nature and history. We will walk the park-like grounds of the former [Medfield State Hospital,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medfield_State_Hospital) on the national register of historic places, est in 1892 and closed in 2003. It was the site of several major movie filmings, including Shutter Island, with Leonardo DiCaprio. It is open to the public for touring and is very interesting and kind of creepy too. Then we will take an hour loop walk starting along the adjacent beautiful Charles River aquifer.

Light hiking shoes are good. The trail can have a few muddy spots if we get rain. You might bring a snack or lunch, and a drink.

Location is off of Hospital Road on the Medfield-Sherborn line. Parking is plentiful and at the end of the driveway. Just keep to the left side ALL the way to the end, where you will see a building with a mural painted on it.
