We pride ourselves on allowing only small groups of up to 12 people on our weekenders, creating a much better and more personal vibe within the group.

Regarded as a British cultural icon, Hadrian’s Wall is one of Britain’s major ancient tourist attractions.
Hadrian’s wall is a must for both walkers and history lovers from around the world and is renowned the world over as a feat of Roman construction, that is nearly 2000 years old and holds UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
The Wall stretches for 73 miles across Northumberland and Cumbria, giving us some of the most picturesque hiking, but unfortunately there are some rather mundane sections, which is why we’ve created our Hadrian’s Wall Weekend to take in a couple of the best!
We arrive on Friday evening at The Sill YHA, the perfect place to start exploring Northumberland National Park, and a fantastic location to connect with nature and the National Park’s unique and special landscapes.
We are greeted by our Host, before settling in and enjoying a lovely, freshly prepared meal whilst getting to know each other. A little music, fun and games… but don’t get carried away, we’re up early and out for a day of hiking, taking in ‘The Robin Hood Tree’, made famous and named so after it appeared in the 1991 blockbuster film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner at the height of his fame.
Once everyone has taken plenty of photos, we continue along the Hadrian’s Wall path taking in some truly exceptional views and arrive at Housesteads, a Roman fort that was built in 124 AD, where we will be treated to a tour, explaining all the fascinating history relating to the site.
Now it’s time for our lunch, which is all provided by Boot Up Adventures and a chance to discuss and marvel at all the interesting history we have just learnt, before leaving the path and circling round Greenlee Lough National Nature Reserve and heading back to The Sill late afternoon to reflect on a brilliant day of trekking whilst being treated to another fantastic freshly prepared meal, followed by a great night of socialising!
After breakfast, those who fancy another adventure will be treated to a shorter walk taking in another fantastic route in this beautiful national park.
Today we take in the famous Walltown Crags and quarry, pass a Roman bridge as well as many remains of turrets and milecastles before reaching Aesica, another Roman fort, where we will take a little time out to look around before returning to the start.
For those that are not as eager to get home, you can take in more sights of history at the Roman Army Museum, Magnis Roman Fort and the remains of Thirlwall Castle.

Considered one of the most classic and therefore beautifully stunning long distance hikes in the world! The West Highland Way follows historic routes from the lowlands of Glasgow to the wilds of the Scottish Highlands.
This classic walk passes through some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery, following ancient drove roads, used by Highlanders to get their cattle and sheep to market, old military roads built in the 1700’s during the Jacobite uprising, old coach roads and abandoned rights of way railway lines.
Hiking this near 100 mile route takes you past the wild shores of Loch Lomond, Britain’s largest freshwater lake, through the wilds of Rannoch Moor, Scotland’s largest, and finishes at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain’s largest mountain! Although sheep and cattle aplenty, you might spot wild goats, red deer or even a golden eagle!
