Join me for a beginner hike this evening.

Beginner hikes always work on something different; distance, speed or terrain.

Tonight's hike will work on speed.

Consistency is key to improving your hiking abilities. I recommend 2x/wk. Very shortly you will see a big difference in what you can do.

**Start:** Outside the Toronto Public Library on the SE corner of Yonge/Lawrence (across from the Lawrence Subway Station)
**End:** Where we started
**Distance:** Approximately 8km
**Terrain:** Mixed dirt mountain biking trails, paved trails and gravel
**Difficulty:** Easy
**Pace:** Aiming for an average of at least 5km/hour to 5.5km/hour
**Elevation Gain:** 89m
**Mandatory Equipment:**

* Headlamp (not a phone - it won't be sufficient). Headlamp should have a minimal of 400 lumens.
* Proper hiking shoes - this means you bought them in a shoe/sporting store in the hiking section
* Icers/Traction Aids - hopefully we won't need these, yet, but begin to keep them packed in your bag. We just never know. If you need more information on what these are, see the [MRACX Winter Newsletter](https://www.mracx.com/so/beOhN46KX?languageTag=en)
* Water - we may not drink as much in the cooler weather, but you'll still be thankful you have it with you!

The $2 fee is payable upon arrival. Alternatively, you can purchase [pre-paid event passes](https://www.mracx.com/services-5) at www.mracx.com. You can also e-transfer to lorrie1972@icloud.com. Everyone will show as unpaid. This will not affect your going status.
