What we’re about

What kind of books are we reading?

Books are decided two months in advance by popular vote at the previous meetup. If you want to discuss a particular book, you should suggest it and come to meetups to vote on it!

Who should join?

1) People who love science fiction.

2) People who want to be exposed to a variety of literature on science fiction - I will be trying to keep it fresh by including authors and books from all kinds of backgrounds, not just straight cis white male authors from America & Europe.

3) English speakers. Due to language limitations, we will only be reading English books, and English translations of foreign-language books on occasion. Discussions will take place in English. Hence, it is important that you can speak and understand English at least at a B2 level to be able to participate.

Group Rules

1) Intolerance is not tolerated. This group welcomes people of all ethnicities, religions, gender identities, sexual orientations or disabilities. If you have disabilities that require accommodation or have accessibility requirements, please let us know upon registering for an event so that we can plan accordingly.

2) We will try our best to pick readable books, but as much as possible, members should read the books in full before the meet-ups.

3) Everyone is welcome to suggest books. I will keep a list of books and take votes on which book to read next. If you suggest a book, it is also suggested that you lead the discussion on that book.

4) Be respectful in meetings!

5) To offset subscription fees which we now personally bear, members are expected to contribute 1 euro when you arrive for meet-ups.

6) Group size is limited to 15, in order to make organisation manageable. Hence, if you RSVP, please do show up as it is unfair to people on the waiting list and me as the organiser. If you cannot make it, change your RSVP asap. If you have a history of no-show or very late cancels,we reserve the right not to let you into future meetings.

7) Respect the IP of creators - more on this below

Book Sources

To make it easier and/or cheaper for potential readers to get books, we have collected some sources for new, used and kindle books here. We will make sure that any books we read can be found on at least one of the sources here. As much as we want to make it easy and affordable, we are also about the love of reading and supporting authors, hence we do not support or suggest pirating any books whose copyright in still in effect. Authors need to eat too!
