**General:** N2BD will be at First Ascent Arlington Heights, Illinois. First Ascent Arlington Heights is the latest, largest gym in the First Ascent family, offering world-class climbing terrain with auto-belays, top ropes, and lead climbing up to 52 ft. (16 M) tall walls. They also have an expansive bouldering area. First Ascent has something for everyone from first-timers to experienced climbers.

**Directions Note:** First Ascent is located on the backside of the One Arlington Building. Near the corner of Euclid Ave and Rohlwing Road.

**What do I need to do to climb at First Ascent?**
All you need to do is show up. They are very well set up for first-time climbers. With 12 Auto Belays (a device that takes up slack in the rope as you climb and slowly lets you down when you let go) and bouldering caves, anyone can be climbing.

**What should I wear?**
Comfortable, stretchy athletic clothes. We recommend wearing pants or shorts that cover your knees to protect them against scraping them on the wall.

If you will be renting climbing shoes, we also recommend wearing socks.
You can rent everything you'll need (harness, shoes, chalk bag).

**Day Climbing Pass: $25**

**Who can climb?**
Anyone. One of the great things about climbing is that anyone can excel. Unlike many sports in which only specific body types can excel (like height in basketball), anyone can climb.

**Why climb?**
Climbing is a full-body workout. The common conception that climbing is all about upper body strength is completely false. The elegance of balance, movement, and economy of strength is much more important. More than anything, climbing is fun. It combines the physicality of sport with the analysis of logic games and the mental control of tightrope.

**Attendance:** The event can be canceled if sign-up is too low the day before the planned event. Please respect the organizer's time and efforts. PLEASE only sign up if you are 100% sure you can make it.

**Removal Policy:** You will be removed N2BD group after 2-3 no-shows or for a single act of irresponsible behavior that endangers the safety or well-being of the group.

**First Ascent Waiver:** First Ascent requires all participants to have a signed waiver on file upon entering the facility and prior to entering the climbing areas. Regardless of whether you are climbing or not, all individuals (including spectators) must fill out a waiver. You can speed up this process by completing the FA waiver online before your visit. You will need to set up an account with a password on the FA website. Anyone new will also have a short gym orientation by FA staff.
