Come join us if you like to knit, crochet, color, or work on handcrafts. Whether you're a beginner or have more experience, this group is for you.
If you're learning a craft, we can't promise that we'll always be able to help you, but we do have several experienced knitters and crocheters who frequently offer to help. We occasionally do something outside of our usual regular get-togethers. Twice a year we will ask that everyone chip in a few dollars to cover the Meetup charge.
A few notes about the character of our group:
• We get together primarily to work on our crafts and to socialize in a fun, relaxing, and positive atmosphere.
• That means that we limit conversations about sensitive subjects since they may raise stress levels. Sensitive topics can include (but are not limited to) politics, religion, weight, and dieting. (Yes, we will probably talk about the last two more than first two, but even when you're talking about your own diet and your own weight, you may inadvertently say something sounds like a judgment of someone else in our group. Just be careful here.)
• Also, while it's okay for us to vent and complain some, we should all recognize when we may be going on too long about a negative subject and either figure out a solution for ourselves or move on to other topics.Â
• Be kind to each other, which can include helping with our crafts, going out of our way to talk to someone new, adjusting the level of our introverted-ness or extraverted-ness so that other's have a chance to talk, and not talking about members who aren't at that particular event.Â
• Our group is primarily for adults to get together and work on their crafts. Older children and teenagers who are knitting or crocheting are welcome to join us too. Occasionally, smaller children may be at our table when someone's child care falls through. And if you're the parent of a new baby and/or a nursing mom, make the decision that is best for you and your baby about bringing them. Sometimes members' children are nearby in the restaurant and just not at the big table, which generally works out well.Â
• Our main gatherings are in a restaurant. Be courteous to the staff and be considerate of other patrons. There aren't many places that can hold a group our size and that don't charge money; let's take care of our meeting places.
