Welcome nature enthusiasts! Nature Nexus Institute offers fun outdoor activities for families and individuals - all are welcome! Join us on monthly nature hikes, habitat restoration events, library workshops, art & science activities all centered around exploring nature in LA. Locations include the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, Ballona Wetlands, Kenneth Hahn Recreation Area, Dockweiler Beach and more. We seek to provide equitable and intergenerational entry points to cultivating healthy community-nature relationships.

Join us for a fall evening in nature at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook!
We’ll be doing some hands-on activities, a sunset stroll, and s'mores around the campfire. Family friendly!

Join us for at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation area for a habitat restoration event! It’s a great opportunity to learn about native plants and local wildlife, all while spending some time outdoors.

Important things to know about this event:- Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Habitat restoration tasks are best suited for people who are 12 years of age or older.
- Please wear long pants and covered shoes.
- Please bring plenty of drinking water for yourself as well as ample sun protection.
- Work sites are frequently off trail and may be on uneven terrain.
- Please drive all the way to the top of the hill and park at the upper parking lot. We will be meeting near the picnic table/bathroom area. If you arrive late you may have trouble finding us. Please be sure to RSVP so we know to expect you!

The Baldwin Hills Branch Library is just a short distance from some of the best nature spaces in the city!
Join us at the library to catch a bus to a morning of fun at the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve in Playa del Rey.
This is a FREE trip open to all families. We will provide transportation and a guided hike throughout the wetlands.

WHEN: Saturday, December 7th
TIME: 8:45am to 1pm
HOW: The bus will pick up in front of Baldwin Hills Branch Library (2906 S La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 90016) and return us to this same spot at 1pm.
WHAT TO BRING: Snacks/lunch, water, sunscreen, and good walking shoes.
WHO: We invite all families and friends to come along to enjoy a day at the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve.
