Details
Air pollution is responsible for 6.7 to 9 million premature deaths every year, 90% of which occur in low and middle income countries (LMICs). Yet, few citizens in LMICs mobilize to pressure elected officials for toxic air. Shikhar Singh, assistant professor of political science at Duke, will discuss findings from conducting a large-scale citizens' survey in one of the world's most polluted cities, Delhi (India), to understand such puzzling political apathy.
