Having all but single-handedly prevented extinction of two North Carolina endemic freshwater snails, biologist and conservation educator Andy Wood proves that one person can make a difference for the environment. Join Andy for a trek into the swampy lower Cape Fear River Basin where freshwater plants and wildlife are in a race to shift ahead of saltwater intrusion due to river dredging. Magnificent Rescue is a story about unintended consequences, protecting biodiversity and perseverance – starring a sentinel species, umbrella species and flagship species, all coiled in one shell.
