What we’re about
Welcome! We meet every third Sunday from 4:30 pm to 6 pm in NE Portland, Oregon and have recently added a new monthly Satsang every first Sunday of every month, same time, at a SE Portland location. We are also offering online access through Zoom atleast once a month.
Our community is dedicated to the teachings of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba and emphasizes understanding, lovingkindness, and mindfulness. We believe that by practicing these principles, we can contribute to a more compassionate and harmonious world.
We encourage participants to preview the teachings of Ram Dass before attending to see if they resonate with you. Here's a great introduction to his work: Ram Dass on YouTube
- The Satsang requires no creed or dogma to attend. It is open to all, regardless of background, gender, sexual orientation, or abilities.
- All attendees are considered teachers, and we encourage everyone to share and learn from each other.
- We have no formal affiliation with the Love, Serve, Remember Foundation, though they provide resources and a way for others to find us.
- This Satsang is not intended for personal gain and relies on volunteers to facilitate.
- Donations are suggested as an offering to the host of the space but are not required. This will help cover operational costs and ensure the continuity of the Satsang.

Theme: Politics and Spirituality
As we approach a new presidency, many of us are grappling with fears, a sense of uncertainty, and political anxieties on the horizon. In these challenging times, it's crucial to find ways to maintain our inner balance while engaging with the complexities of our society. With this in mind, our theme for this month is:
Exploring Ram Dass's insights on integrating spiritual practice with political awareness. We'll discuss maintaining inner peace while engaging with societal complexities, focusing on "conscious social action" and balancing inner work with outer engagement. We'll listen to a clip from this interview: Ram Dass Here and Now – Episode 27 – Politics and Spirituality, reflecting on Ram Dass's experiences and their relevance in today's politically charged atmosphere. We will continue to meet on the 3rd Sunday of this month. In-person and online options. Sign up to receive more details.
Expect a loving community space for meditation, journaling, discussion, mutual learning, and perhaps a little chanting at the end.
Whether you're a long-time follower or new to Ram Dass' teachings, all are welcome to connect, share, and grow.
Our Shared Commitments: From the Teachings of Mahariji & Ram Dass
In the spirit of love and interconnectedness, we commit to:- Love Each Other: Actively cultivate love and kindness towards everyone we encounter, regardless of their differences, seeing them as reflections of ourselves.
- Feed Everyone: Embody love to inspire and heal. Treat all with genuine care, recognizing our impact on others. Share wisdom through actions & mindful sharing based on personal experience, rather than the passing around of advice. While we create a supportive environment, we recognize that our satsang complements but does not replace professional therapy.
- Remember God: Honor the divine in each soul, transforming our consciousness and the world, understanding that we are connected to something much greater than ourselves.
As a Satsang, we dedicate ourselves to these practices, recognizing that being love transforms our consciousness and contribute to a ripple effect of love and peace in the world.
How to support: A $5-10 suggested donation helps us cover operational costs and ensure the continuity of the Satsang at Fitness Union PDX, and is always deeply appreciated (NOTAFLOF)
