The Nature Conservancy's Dick & Nancy Eales Preserve
Details
Please join me for a bracing winter hike at Eales Preserve. Be prepared to hike about 8 miles with one moderate climb. Eales Preserve is a picturesque mountain barren with sweeping views of the Scranton and Wyoming Valley. We will start on the Blueberry trail and explore the Waterfall Loop … seeking evidence of the hard to find waterfall .... and continue on the Stonehenge and View Trails for more spectacular views of the valley below. We'll conclude our hike by returning on the Conglomerate Loop. The preserve is, at times, open and wind swept, so please dress in appropriate layers of clothing. Since it is hunting season, please wear orange.
From I 81, take exit # 187 to Carbondale/Route 6. Go 4 miles. Take Exit #3, Jessup. Travel south on Moosic Lake Road/Route 247 for about 2 miles to main parking lot on the left.
