The purpose of this meetup group is to connect "New to Nashville" music professionals with the local industry movers and shakers.

We'll be hanging at HOME - Helping Our Music Evolve and listening to some music in the studios while building targeted relationships. HOME is a gorgeous 24/7 music production and coworking facility in a very convenient East Nashville location. There's also:

Calling all MLC Members! Get step-by-step help to register your songs with The MLC!

In this interactive workshop, held in person at HOME, we will walk you through each step of the song registration process. You cannot collect your digital mechanical royalties if your songs are not properly registered in The MLC’s database. What you will learn and do in this workshop will ensure you are not missing out on your royalties.
Date/Time: Thursday, November 14 from 6:00 – 8:00pm
Venue: HOME (615 Main St, Suite G1, Nashville, TN 37206)Workshop Highlights:
- Refresher: A brief presentation about The MLC and the types of royalties it collects and distributes
- Walk Through: Demonstrations by our expert instructors of all of The MLCs song (works) registration and management tools
- Tools at Your Fingertips: Time for you to use The MLC’s tools on your own, with MLC support staff standing by to provide assistance
Workshop Requirements:
- MLC Membership: Participants must be MLC members to attend. Not a member yet? Join now and allow 48 hours for processing before attending the workshop.
- Laptop with Wi-Fi: Please bring a working laptop that can connect to Wi-Fi. If you intend to use The MLC’s spreadsheet bulk upload tool, also ensure that you have spreadsheet software installed on your laptop.
- Song Information: Have details ready about the songs (works) you intend to register, so you can make the most of the workshop.

Ian Janco is an award-winning artist, multi-genre songwriter and versatile producer. Having played music from an early age, his environments have shaped his sound and approach, from rural Idaho in as a kid, to the West Coast as a teen, to London in his twenties. Now Nashville-based, the wide range of projects he's worked on for artists like Ross Quinn and JP Cooper, and international music companies like Universal, Audio Network, Hikoon and Sony have garnered millions of streams across platforms, as well countless sync placements on Netflix, Discovery, MTV and more.
With a Music BA degree from Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Ian brings a strong educational foundation to his work. He also coordinates songwriting retreats for The Goffin & King Foundation and helps facilitate initiatives that empower aspiring artists and songwriters.
Driven by a deep-seated desire to level up his own craft and facilitate creative development for others, Ian’s multifaceted approach to the modern music industry is a culmination of his varied experience and dedication to excellence and empowerment in the music space and beyond.

Independent artists, musicians, and industry professionals are invited to join an impactful webinar exploring practical, income-generating strategies and valuable resources available to Tennessee’s creative community.
Together, Jimmy Wheeler from the Tennessee Entertainment Commission (TEC) and Making Money with Music author Randy Chertkow will dive into ways independent artists can enhance their careers and financial stability.
### What to Expect:
- Practical strategies to build income streams through licensing, streaming, live performances, and fan-driven support.
- Insights into TEC’s support programs for Tennessee music creators, including growth and funding opportunities.
This hour-long session includes a Q&A segment, giving attendees the chance to engage directly with leaders committed to the success of independent artists in Tennessee.

### ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
JIMMY WHEELER is a native Nashvillian and a seasoned veteran of the music industry. After attending the University of Tennessee, he started his music business journey back home in Nashville as a field marketing rep for BMG Distribution. His career led him to stints in Atlanta and Minneapolis and finally back home in 1995 where he has been ever since. Jimmy has held various positions within BMG (now Sony Music) ranging from sales, marketing, radio promotion and distribution. He left Sony in December of 2019 after 30 years. He had a brief stint at a tech firm in early 2020 which shuttered its doors during the pandemic. He spent 2 years in artist management before coming on board as the Director of Business Development for the Tennessee Entertainment Commission. Jimmy resides in Franklin with his wife Molly. They have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren.
RANDY CHERTKOW is a musician, author, journalist, public speaker, instructor, and music consultant. He co-wrote 4 books with major publishers, including the critically-acclaimed The Indie Band Survival Guide (Macmillan) (first and second editions), The DIY Music Manual (Random House), and Making Money With Music (Macmillan). He currently works at the non-profit Center for Creative Entrepreneurship (CCE) providing music business education to musicians around the country. He also professionally speaks about music business and revenue generation at conventions, music organizations (e.g. The Recording Academy), businesses (Guitar Center), cities (New York City, Austin, Chicago), and schools (SAE, Music Industry Workshop, Columbia College). This includes speaking at venues such as Carnegie Hall. Their band, Beatnik Turtle, released over 500 songs spanning 20 albums, licensed music to Disney and Viacom, and wrote music for TV, films, and theater including Chicago's Second City. In 2007, they released a song every single day of the year.
