PHOTOGRAPHY 101 COURSE - FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY

Details

Beginner's Photography has now been improved in a few ways. First, we have adopted a new book from which we will draw our lessons. In this way everyone can be 'on the same page'. It will provide a resource for the members to find information on their own, give them the ability to keep up with the current information if they find they have to miss meetings and most importantly, give them a way to follow along in these workshops. The book is available on the web from many sources and we are told that it can even be purchased from Barnes and Noble book stores locally. Be sure to have this book with you when coming to these workshops. From this book we will present information from Chapter 2, Exposure, through Chapter 5, Flash. Second will be how we will present the information. We will now bring information on computer and display the important parts via projection at every workshop except for demonstrations and practice sessions. We will also publish important information for the members of each group on the Meetup page in PDF format when we deem it beneficial. Third, we have instituted a new format for the sessions. We will begin promptly at the announced start time and questions will only be entertained at the break and after class. You may also submit questions via the Meetup site e-mail service. Please note, we will present only the concepts and foundation for digital photography. We DO NOT teach, nor do we know about YOUR camera. Each person should own a User's Manual for his or her camera to learn about the camera's functionality and setup.

...and now, about THIS SESSION IS FREE OF CHARGE!

Exposure is one of the most fundamental aspects of photography, and you'll often hear photographers talking about taking an exposure or getting the exposure right. In essence, exposure is simply the process of letting light through the camera's lens to illuminate (expose) the digital sensor and produce an image. Getting the optimal exposure for your photograph relies on balancing three distinct elements often referred to as the Photographer’s Triangle.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to read and familiarize yourself with the first chapter covering Equipment. You should also read the second chapter on Exposure from pages 42 thru 59 which is what will be covered in this workshop session. Please be sure to bring your camera, camera manual, note taking paraphernalia and, of course, your Beginner’s Photography Guide.
This, as you know, is our first outing with the new format and content, and even though we will have done our best to review the material and practiced its delivery, mistakes happen. So, please bear with us as we forge ahead and be sure to give us your input as we move forward. This is your group and we want you to get as much from the experience as you can.

See you there,

Cesar Rivera
