What we’re about
Data engineering is taking the world of data science by storm. More and more organizations are looking to keep the entire data pipeline in-house, starting with ETL and ending with a usable, final product - https://odsc.com/
At ODSC, we aim to bring together the open source and data science communities with the goal of helping our members learn, connect, and grow. With this group, we aim to solely focus on everything data engineering, as opposed to the greater data science and AI industry.
These meetups are designed to bring together the people that work on various parts of the data engineering workflow, ranging from those who work on extracting and cleaning data, to those at the end whose goal it is to sell a product, and everything in between. We will work with meetup groups, non-profits, and other organizations to present informative lectures, workshops, code sprints, and networking events to help grow the use of data engineering workflows, tools, processes, and products.
As such, our specific goals are:
1. Build a collaborative group to work with other Meetup groups, non-profits, and other organizations.
2. Promote the use of open-source languages and tools amongst data engineers and their teams.
3. Host educational workshops.
4. Spread awareness of new open source languages and tools that can be used in data science.
5. Contribute back to the open source community.
Who is this meetup for?
• Data engineers, machine learning engineers, and even decision makers looking to implement data engineering tools.
• R, Python and other software engineers who work with data or want to learn
• Data visualization developers and designers
• Non-technical team leads, executives, and other decision makers from data centric startups and large companies looking to utilize open source tools
