This challenging 12+ mile, ascent of about 4500'hike will traverse 6 Catskills peeks: Friday (3692'), Balsam Cap (3608'), Rocky (3508'), Lone (3721'), Table (3847'), and Peekamoose (3843').
This route will be a combination of old roads, herd paths, bushwhack, and trails. We'll encounter steep difficult terrain and will be rewarded with great views.
Event Duration: 12+ miles, 4500 ft EG, 12 hours
Level of Difficulty: Difficult / One of Hardest Catskills Hike
- Balsam Cap: (3,608 feet). It is known for its dense forests, rocky terrain, and scenic views from its summit. Hiking to Balsam Cap involves a strenuous trek.
- Friday Mountain: (3,692 feet), offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and is characterized by rugged terrain and lush forests. Hiking to Friday Mountain involves a strenuous ascent.
- Rocky Mountain (3,508 feet): Known for its dense forest and lack of a marked trail, requiring bushwhacking. The summit offers limited views but provides a sense of accomplishment.
- Lone Mountain (3,721 feet); Also requires bushwhacking and careful navigation. Offers a remote wilderness experience with the satisfaction of summiting a less-traveled peak.
- Table Mountain: (3,847 feet). The summit offers views, you’ll pass through beautiful hardwood forests. You'll gain significant elevation over a relatively short distance, with the trail becoming increasingly rocky.
- Peekamoose Mountain: (3,843 feet). The summit is wooded, there are some excellent viewpoints where you can see the Catskill High Peaks and the Rondout Reservoir.

Please Bring: Wear warm hiking boots, and pack an extra clothing layer. Do not wear cotton. Hiking poles are recommended. Bring lunch, snacks, and 3 liters of water/sports drink. Headlamps are required. Depending on trail conditions traction aids and/or snowshoes may be required.

There is no cell service at this location. This is where our hike will end. We'll leave cars, and shuttle to the end of Moon Haw Rd
