Around Hungerford via Stype – circular walk

A pleasant, mostly flat walk looping out from Hungerford via Freeman’s Marsh and back across Hungerford Common (Port Down). We can have some refreshments at the end in Hungerford.
Meeting place: in The Croft, in front of St. Lawrence’s Church, Hungerford, RG17 0JB
Start time: 10.30
Travel: by train via Hungerford Train Station. By bicycle (bike stands in the highstreet). Car parking at the train station; car park next to Library/Hub in Church Street; some car parking in The Croft,
Distance: about 6 miles
Time walking: about 2.5 hours, with time for pausing.
Conditions: mostly flat but there is a bit of uphill here and there. Expect glorious mud in various places. We will cross a railway track. Some walking on quiet roads. Moderate pace.
Risk: we walk at our own risk. Please always carry written contact details of who to contact in case of emergency.
Refreshments: please bring water to drink and a packed lunch or snacks; we can stop for breaks along the walk. At the end of the walk, we can eat our pack lunches/snacks on Hungerford Common - where there are some benches - and or have some light refreshments in a pub or café of our choice.
Dogs: welcome on lead.
