What we’re about
This is a group for those in their 20's & 30's based in Newton Abbot and the surrounding area (Bovey Tracey, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Ashburton, Buckfastleigh etc.) to meet new people, enjoy fun activities and experience more of what their area has to offer.
Newton Abbot 20's and 30's hosted their first event in 2018 and has since put on events ranging from pub quizzes and walks to drinks events - and even goat yoga... The COVID pandemic saw things slow down for a couple of years, but the group is now looking forward once more, searching for a diverse range of activities to offer and aiming to serve the local community to its fullest potential.
The majority of our events are held in and around the Newton Abbot area (including the neighbouring towns mentioned above), but we also look to make use of the wider Teignbridge area, and further afield where possible, to be able to offer new and exciting events. Typical events we host, and might look to put on in the future, include;
- Walks
- Drinks events
- Meals out
- Movies / shows
- Seasonal events (e.g. Easter parades, Christmas events)
- Music festivals / concerts
- Something a bit different! You name it - from crazy golf to night pottery, we're willing to give it a go...
- And more, we're always up for suggestions...
Group values
Finally, we aim to operate on a set of 'common sense' values that define who we are and the type of experience we want to provide to members;
Kindness & respect - It goes without saying, treat others how you would like to be treated. The recipe for any successful event is for all involved to feel safe, respected and comfortable. We reserve the right to take action against anyone displaying threatening, harassing or hostile behaviour against others, in order to ensure a positive & inviting environment for all.
Openness & inclusion - On a similar note, we want this to be a group serving all the local community. Everyone should feel welcomed and able to express themselves at our events. With this being said, 'family' events are difficult for us to cater for and we would therefore advise that the group is realistically best served for single entities (or couples) looking to meet new people and enjoy a good time.
Honesty & creativity - We are always looking to hear the views of our members and their ideas for new and exciting events. The weirder the better (well, within reason...). Everyone's contribution makes the group a richer place to be. By the same card, we also welcome suggestions regarding what the group doesn't do so well, or how we could improve...
