Ninho - Writing Workshop

Details

A safe space for crafting your story.

Ninho is a word in Portuguese that translates as “nest”, but unlike its English counterpart, it also carries a meaning of warmth and home, being a place where you can rest and get the support you need to grow.

Ten years ago in Brazil I created a writing workshop (that later on became a practice community) called Ninho de Escritores – “writer’s nest”. From the start, Ninho was designed to be a place for new stories to be brought to life. But unlike most writing workshops, our focus is more on the person who's doing the writing than solely on the text being written.

Ninho’s methodology is based on three main principles: appreciation, curiosity and play. They guide all our activities, from impromptu exercises to critique circles, with the goal of nurturing a creative and compassionate community of fellow writers.

How to know if Ninho is for you?
If what you are looking for is ego boosting, freedom to talk shit about other people’s creations, quick tricks to become a bestseller, or a purely technical approach to writing, then this is not the workshop for you. 😋
However, if you want to tell stories in writing and are looking for a supportive and inclusive environment, you've found it.

Who is your host?
I am Tales, a Brazilian gay man currently living in Japan. I’ve been teaching and facilitating groups for over a decade, I’m a practitioner of nonviolent communication, and I am passionate about creating meaningful human gatherings.

If you want to learn more about me or just talk, I can be reached at @talesgubes on Instagram or through my newsletter A gay fox in Japan (https://gayjapan.substack.com/).

So how will this work?
This workshop will happen over four independent, yet progressive, encounters. They will happen in Shinjuku once every two weeks, from 7:30pm - 9:30pm on the following dates:

  • October 2nd
  • October 16th
  • October 30th
  • November 13th (this one!)

The workshop will be held in Shinjuku, near to E1 exit of Shinjuku Sanchome station.

How much does it cost?
The participation fee is up to ¥1000 per encounter to cover rent and materials cost. Depending on the number of attendants, the final fee per person may be reduced.

I hope to see you in one of our encounters!

With love,
Tales
