Wat we doen
Creative Coding Amsterdam is a community for anyone fascinated by the creative side of programming — or even the broader world of art and technology.
It's a welcoming space for beginners and advanced coders alike, whether you're a professional or just coding for fun.
We host informal events where you can connect with other creative coding enthusiasts, share your work, discover what others are creating, and even collaborate on projects spontaneously.
Have an idea, an awesome project you'd like to showcase, or something you feel is missing in the creative coding community? Don't hesitate to reach out and help make it happen!
Join us at one of our events or online on our discord — we'd love to have you!

Alles weergeven- Sunday Session @ CREA CaféCREA Café, Amsterdam
Hello again creative coders and enthusiasts!
Last month we had an epic event in collaboration with Dance Hack over at Splendor. We want to thank the dance hack crew for co-hosting and especially everyone that showed up and joined us for the workshop. It was a bit chaotic, but fun and engaging for everyone there. Thank you all!
Now for this time around, we're going back to an improved CREA Cafe setting where we've got something planned we've done before, yet a little bit different. We'll be doing a flash-talk on Hydra, the visual live coding environment, followed-up with a themed show and tell.
🕰️ Schedule
13:00 - Start & welcome
13:30 - Hydra Crash Course by David Vandenbogaerde
14:00 - Themed show & tell, theme: Synthesizers🗣️ Crash Course Hydra by David Vandenbogaerde
Hydra is a browser-based platform for live coding visuals developed by Olivia Jack. The API is inspired by analog modular synthesis, in which multiple visual sources (oscillators, cameras, application windows, other connected windows) can be transformed, modulated, and composited via combining sequences of functions.
David has been developing software for about twenty years now and as the co-organizer of the CCA meetups, it should come to no surprise to you that he likes his coding creative. So when he finally sat down to play around with Hydra in a workshop at C3 earlier this year, it really got under his skin. In this flash talk he'll take you through all the things Hydra he's learned in the mean time, and who knows, maybe pass on the Hydra bug.
🙉 Themed Show & Tell
The theme for this meetup is: Synthesizers.
As Hydra was inspired by analog synthesizers, we thought that was the perfect opportunity to have that as the theme. And please interpret as broadly as you like!Anyone can share a project or thoughts on the topic. This can either be something you did, or something you found interesting. Whatever the topic brings up in you, we'd love to hear and see it!
As for the location, we're heading back to our corner spot at CREA Cafe, only this time we'll be bringing an actual screen on top of the projector. And some curtains probably to make the 'living room' a bit cosier.
Hope to see you there!
