Synopsis:
Surveillance expert Harry Caul attaches great importance to his anonymity. When he and his partner Stan are hired by a mysterious client, who calls himself "the director," to follow a young couple, Harry deduces that the woman is the principal's wife and the man is an employee with whom she is having an affair. Harry becomes convinced that the warden is planning to kill the couple and, haunted by guilt over a previous assignment where the information he provided resulted in the loss of life, he investigates himself to prevent the murder. The Conversation is a gripping psychological thriller, characterized by a typical 70s paranoia, inventive editing and sound design, and is widely regarded as one of Coppola's best films.

Francis Ford Coppola's neo-noir thriller The Conversation explores the uneasy line between technology and privacy – a topic that is more topical today than ever. Fifty years ago, between the releases of his iconic The Godfather: Part I and Part II, the film was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the prestigious Palme d'Or at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival.
