All are welcome to be a part of our evening service. Experience not necessary. Those of any faith or lack thereof are welcome. All that is required is an open mind to learn how to promote wellness, happiness, love, and peace to oneself and all sentient beings. Typically a service will include the following:

* Check in. (How you’re doing.)
* Silent meditation, seated on cushion, chair, or one of the pews.
* Dharma talk from either Thay Kozen or one of five other teachers. (Buddhist teaching on how to alleviate suffering and promote happiness and peace.)
* Metta practice. (Loving kindness.)
* Sutra recitation and discussion. (Sutras are the written Dharma teachings.)
* Much love and laughter.

6:00-6:30 **Sutra study**. This is more fun than it sounds. A teacher will read a short Sutra (Lesson from the Buddha) and discuss it.
6:30-7:00 **Check-in**. (Optional) Everyone checks in with how life is going. We have several standard questions and one wildcard question picked by a member of the group. This gets very real as this is a safe space where you can really let it all hang out.
7:00-7:30 **Meditation**. Thirty minutes of just sitting, observing whatever arises without judgment and without effort. If you're new to meditation, we will give some instruction.

If 6:00 a.m. is too early, please show up with you can. (If you show up after 7, you may have to wait a bit until someone sees you're in the waiting room.)

Everyone who has participated in this group has a story about how it has made their lives more peaceful. Showing up is the first step. Then just keep showing up. That's all you need to do. After some time, you may notice life getting just a bit easier.

Morning Meditation

You are welcome to join us for a Thien (Zen) Buddhist Service in this hidden gem in Vancouver, WA. Venerable Suco Hue Huong welcomes all regardless of experience and regardless of faith. All are welcome. Learn about and practice seated meditation, an important part of the path to find our true self, to gain inner peace, to improve awareness or awakening, all of which are part of the path to relieve suffering for oneself and for all. A Question & Answer session will follow. Newcomers are welcome. Experienced practitioners are welcome. The path is the same for both. And the goal is the same for both–alleviating suffering for all.
Venerable Suco Hue Huong not only teaches basic meditation practices, but she shares Dharma teachings\* too.
All are welcome regardless of experience and regardless of faith.

\*Dharma teachings are the the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, and can also be interpreted as the truth without preconception or judgement.
