🌳🦌Veluwezoom Quest: Hilly Forests & Open Vistas 🍂🐂 (22 km)

Join us for an unforgettable 22 km November hike with breathtaking views across the unique landscapes of Veluwe National Park. Starting from Velp train station, our route will take us through a stunning variety of terrains, including dense forests, open heather fields, and expansive grasslands. Expect autumn colors, panoramic vistas, and perhaps even a few surprises from the local wildlife—including the impressive woolly cows!

Veluwezoom National Park is a true gem, known for its rolling hills, forested areas, and open heathlands. The landscape here is diverse and teeming with life, offering a perfect mix of rugged nature and calm, open spaces.

Further along, we’ll cross the Rozendaalse Veld, an enormous open field of heather that transforms into a purple sea in late summer but remains a spectacular sight year-round. This wide, open expanse is ideal for spotting wildlife such as deer, foxes, and birds of prey.

When and Where to Meet?
We'll meet at 11:35 PM at Velp train station, so please be sure to arrive on time! We'll begin the hike promptly to make the most of our day, and the adventure will conclude back at the same station. 🚀

Where and When Shall We Rest?
At approximately the 6 km mark, we’ll take a 30-minute lunch break at Paviljoen de Posbank, a popular viewpoint and rest spot within Veluwezoom. The pavilion offers warm refreshments, snacks, and meals if you'd like to purchase something. Alternatively, you're welcome to bring your own packed lunch and enjoy it outside.

• If your Meetup name is different from your payment account name, please add a note with your Meetup name so I can easily match them.
• To secure your spot, please make the payment within 24 hours. If payment isn’t received, your spot will be offered to someone on the waiting list. Thank you for your understanding!
• Cancellations are fully refundable up to one week before the event (This is Friday 8 November at 23h59). After this period, the fee becomes non-refundable. Please also note that refunds will not be possible for late arrivals.
• Feel free to ask any questions about the local wildlife and plants as we hike—it's a great chance to explore nature!
• Bring food and/or snacks for during the hike.
• Bring at least 1 liter of water for drinking along the way.
• The only reason the hike could get canceled is because of bad weather (storm with strong winds).
• If you plan to bring a companion, please ensure that they are also registered for the hike.
• Please note that my phone will be offline from the start of the hike.
• Latecomers, I kindly ask that you refrain from reaching out before the hike for assistance to catch up.
