Marskramerpad Challenge: Amersfoort to Barneveld (23 km) 🥾🌾🌳

Get ready for an exciting challenge as we take on a new stage of "Marskramerpad", one of the Netherlands' most scenic and historic hiking trails. Starting at Amersfoort Central Station, we’ll follow Stage 13 of this iconic route toward Barneveld Train Station, covering a total distance of 23 kilometers.

This trail is part of the European E11 long-distance hiking route, once a bustling trade path for merchants traveling across Europe. Today, it offers a chance to experience the gorgeous old city of Amersfoort (yes, Veluwe Power Hikers in the city!), pass through Beekdal Park, and continue further over cultivated lands interspersed with beautiful nature.

November's muddy trails can be challenging, so make sure to wear sturdy, waterproof shoes. With sunset falling between 16:30 and 17:00, part of the hike will take place in darkness, adding an extra touch of adventure to the experience.

I kindly ask everyone to arrive on time, as we won’t be waiting for latecomers.

Where and When Shall We Rest?
We’ll take a break in Achterveld at the 14 km mark, where we’ll do our best to find a spot indoors for a drink and a snack. However, this isn’t guaranteed, so please make sure to bring your own snacks and drinks to enjoy along the trail.

Notifications:

• Be sure to bring a reliable torch or headlamp to navigate safely.
• Don’t forget waterproof shoes.
• If your Meetup name is different from your payment account name, please add a note with your Meetup name so I can easily match them.
• To secure your spot, please make the payment within 24 hours. If payment isn’t received, your spot will be offered to someone on the waiting list.
• Cancellations are fully refundable up to one week before the event (This is Friday 30 November at 23h59). After this period, the fee becomes non-refundable. Please also note that refunds will not be possible for late arrivals.
• Feel free to ask any questions about the local wildlife and plants as we hike—it's a great chance to explore nature!
• Bring food and/or snacks for during the hike.
• Bring at least 1 liter of water for drinking along the way.
• The only reason the hike could get canceled is because of bad weather (storm with strong winds).
• If you plan to bring a companion, please ensure that they are also registered for the hike.
• Latecomers, I kindly ask that you refrain from reaching out before the hike for assistance to catch up.
