Launiupoko Valley Hike
Details
If you enjoy hiking and exploring some of the 'lesser known' trails on Maui, then I have a treat for you. Join us on a West Side adventure as we explore a beautiful trail that will take us deep into Launiupoko Valley. We will traverse across multiple different terrain as we end in a beautiful, secluded valley with a lovely shaded stream to refresh our spirits.
While there are no long, steep climbs, this hike will be just over 5 miles and will be single file in many places (so I am limiting attendance). A few extended sections will require stability, good balance/coordination (balancing on top of a short rock wall), and the willingness to walk through high grass that limits footing visibility. Also, there are tight spots through large Agave plants and pokey branches, so come prepared and PLEASE ask any questions you may have.
Where to Meet
Parking for this trail is extremely limited so carpooling is a must.
Let's meet at the Launiupoko Overflow parking (across the road from Launiupoko Beach Park. From there we will pile into no-more-than three vehicles (9+ people can fit in my truck) and then caravan just over a mile to the trail head.
What To Bring
Sun Protection (lotion, hat...)
Optional Bug Spray
Good Shoes (closed toe preferred)
1+ liters of water and (optional) snack
IF you have sensitive skin, high socks or pants are recommended (I'll be in shorts).
Your adventurous Aloha Spirit!
