Details

Mending, at its most basic, is problem solving and at its most sublime is hacking. You have a once useful item, how do you make it useful, again? Or how do you change it to give it a new use?

In this intro class you will learn how to:

  1. thread a hand needle, anchor stitches, commence and complete hand sewing
  2. sew on buttons
  3. thread a domestic sewing machine
  4. sew a straight line, an angled turn and a curve on a domestic machine
  5. strategies for mending different types of wear and tear, including holes in knits, torn seams, tattered cuffs, holes in pockets or more, such as invisible mending, visible mending, patching, sewing torn pockets. basic hemming. darning and simple embroidery
  6. Sometimes hacking is the easiest way to make a repair.

Bring up to 2 items to be mended. Wash items twice before bringing them.
