What we’re about
Welcome to Norfolk’s Weekend Walkers! We are a friendly group of individuals who enjoy walking in the beautiful countryside around West Norfolk. and sometimes on the lovely North Norfolk coast. Walking is a great way of building fitness levels, getting outdoors and meeting new people! Our fortnightly walks are on Sunday mornings and are usually around 6-7 miles although there will be an occasional longer walk scheduled. Our usual walking speed is around 2.5 miles per hour which should be manageable for most people. You’ll need to bring a drink and may wish to bring snacks as we do make several stops along the way. The walk organiser will advise of any considerations for a particular walk. We usually stop for a coffee or drink at the end of a walk and sometimes have other social events outside of walks. You can attend two walks on a trial basis; if you want to attend further walks you will need to join as a full member and pay the annual membership fee of £15 (due on 1st October, payable on a pro rata basis during the year) which covers the Meetup fees and indemnity insurance cover. You can bring a guest on a walk. If they want to attend further walks, they will need to sign up and pay as a member.
We aim to be friendly and welcoming but there are a few points of common courtesy and guidance to observe:
- if you cannot attend a walk you’ve signed up for, please edit your RSVP or notify the walk leader via the walk chat if it’s on the day itself
- please arrive in good time for the start of a walk and if you are going to be late, again notify the walk leader via the walk chat
- well-behaved dogs are allowed on walks; you will need to put them on leads if we are entering fields with livestock
- make sure you have suitable attire and walking shoes/boots
- check the Meetup website on the morning of the walk as very occasionally walls have to be cancelled eg in the case of very bad weather.
