An attempt to see the USS Nantucket, Bike Bedford to The Seaport. Temps 60

Bike Bedford to Charlestown a 34 mile adventure.** It kicks off at the Bedford Depot on the legendary Minuteman Commuter Bikeway (MMCBW), Alewife Linear Path, and Somerville Community Path (SCP), gliding through their recent extension into the streets of affluent Cambridge via Morgan Ave. We'll pedal past REI, North Point Park, North Bank pedestrian bridge, under the Zakim Bridge, past the skateboarding park. Crossing into Charlestown toward Old Iron sides. Maybe the new ship will be slow in getting out of the harbor. From there we can head over to the rehab center for lunch before heading back to Bedford.
Parking: Arrive early, as this is a popular destination. Free public parking is available right at the Bedford Depot park. There is additional parking behind Bikeway Source. See the maps in the photo section.

Bike helmets are mandatory on our rides.

IMPORTANT: Be sure your bike is in good working order! Tires should be in good shape and pumped up, gears should shift smoothly, and your brakes should be properly adjusted. If possible, pack a spare tube in case of a flat. A hand pump or CO2 inflator is also desireable, though not absolutely necessary, as many riders will already have them.
