What we’re about
This is a monthly evening book club for book lovers in Norwich/Norfolk. If you fancy meeting new people while chatting about books over a coffee or a glass of wine, then this is for you!
I’ve always enjoyed being a member of a book club, and when I moved to Norwich I looked for one as a good way of meeting new people – but I couldn’t find one, so I’ve decided to start my own.
All sorts of genres will be included (although to be honest I’m not a big fan of chick-lit 😐) and everyone will get the chance to pick each month’s book so we can experience a wide range of tastes and try things we wouldn’t normally try.
If you're coming along to one of our meetups, then bring a book suggestion with you - at the end of the evening, all the book suggestions will be put in a hat and one will be chosen as the next month's book.
We also have a book exchange, so feel free to bring along any books you'd be happy to pass onto someone else, and you might pick something interesting up too. No obligation at all to bring/take a book - but the option's there if you fancy it!
We meet in the Merchant's House Café on Fye Bridge Street in Norwich; each session will have a maximum of 12 people to allow everyone the chance to participate.
If you like the sound of it all, then please join the group and come along!
To give you a flavour of things, here are some of the books we've read so far:
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz
Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead
Blackbird by Jennifer Lauck
We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward
The Promise by Damon Galgut
Ordinary People by Diana Evans
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
